Bog Dog Blog 6th June 2009

May I take this opportunity on behalf of all members to wish our Webmaster Jaki Porter a happy 50th Birthday; I understand that her husband Alan arranged a surprise holiday to celebrate the occasion.

Last week-end in Ireland three dog shows took place, the first was on Friday when the Irish Water Spaniel Club  held their show, the Judge Mr  C Hackett had 5 dogs and 6 bitches present, the Dog Green Star and Best of Breed was Fynder on Shifting Ground  owned by Joe Caulfield and Joanne Furlong, the Reserve Green Star was Sh Ch Stanegate Storm Warning at Sosteli  owned by Mr & Mrs Belcher, the Bitch Green Star was Sh Ch Gatewood Katernina of Coleenville  owned by Heather, Norman and Coleen Large and the Reserve Green Star was Malanis Cara owned by  Mrs Banister, Best Puppy  was Drew of Spancihill owned by Gerry  O’Sullivan.
On the Sunday the Kennel Club Special Crufts Qualifying Show for Native Irish Breeds to place, the Judge was Mr N Waters from England and he had 7 dogs and 8 bitches present Dog CC and BOB was Fynder on Shifting Ground owned by Joe and Joanne RDCC was Malanis Cian at Ameysford owned by Hazel Walker, Bitch CC was Malanis Cara owned by Mrs Bannister, RBCC was Curlico RIverdance  owned by Sari Vottonen BP was  Drew of Spancihill owned by Gerry O’Sullivan.
On the Monday, the European Dog Show took place and drew the biggest entry of the week-end, the Judge was Mr L Teixeira, again the Dog Green Star and CACIB Dog and Reserve Dog Green Star and Res CACIB was won by Fynder on Shifting Ground and Sh Ch Stanegate Storm Warning at Sosteli   the Bitch Green Star and CACIB was won by SH CH & GB. SH CH.SU.CH Gatewood Invitation From Coleenville who also went on to win Best of Breed, Reserve Green Star, Res CACIB Bitch was CIB Nord.Fi.Dk.No.S(u) PL & LT.CH Curlyco Riverdante owned by Sari Vottonen, Best Puppy was Drew of Spancihill .
At the European Show Doonbeg Leap of Faith owned by Emer Mooney came 3rd in the Junior Stakes and Harry and Cynthia Nelson who have owned and been members of the Association for many years won Best of Breed with their Brittany ShCh GBSHCH Eatonite Veep @ Byeways CW08.
When looking at the results in detail  it’s interesting to see that although several exhibitors made the trip over to Ireland, most decided to enter only one show not all three of them .

I understand that Sharon & John Gahan from Australia were at the shows in Ireland, and they intend being in the UK for a while and hope to take in as many shows as possible, I met Sharon a few years ago at Crufts and if  she and John are still here for the Kitebrook weekend I look forward to seeing them again.

Don’t forget the members only special water picnic next week-end, we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, Don and I are  going to take this opportunity to have a few days in Derbyshire.

Keep any news coming, as I am sure that members would like to know more than show results!!
