Bog Dog Blog 16th June 2009

I obtained details of the results of the Shows in Ireland from the Irish Kennel Clubs website, but since the blog has been posted I have been contacted by several members informing me that there is an error  on the site and at the European Dog Show the Reserve Green Dog Star was won by Doonbeg Leap of Faith owned by Emer Mooney but as he is still a Puppy he was not eligible to compete for the Reserve CACIB Dog Award therefore this award was won by Cuvana Loutre De Mer owned by Judy and Sue Hempstead my apologies to Emer, Judy & Sue.

At the recent Shropshire Gundog Open Show, the judge for IWS was Ant Andrews (Antdela), he had an entry of 4 and chose Holbain Capercalie for Best Of Breed and Holbain Mustang Sally was Best Puppy, they are both owned by Pauline and Stuart Furber.

Last week-end over 40 Irish Water Spaniels and friends attended the IWS picnic at Chatsworth House, the venue and weather was lovely and everyone said how much they had enjoyed themselves and several members were attending an IWS event for the first time. In the morning the dogs were split into three groups for gundog training, and after a break for lunch, the dogs put into practice what they had learnt. Several members had made cakes which were sold and a raffle was held and all the proceeds are going to be donated to the MacMillan Cancer Nurses. The event  was organized by Chris Hinch and he was helped with the training by David Rawlinson and John Clancy. Don  and I were attending gundog training for the first time and Don & Buddy thoroughly enjoyed themselves. There were three prizes on offer unfortunately I have mislaid my slip of paper with the names of the winners but I will get the information for next week’s blog.   Somebody left behind a chair, so Don & I brought it home, so if you contact me I can arrange to return it to you.

Congratulations to our Chairman Roger Taylor who last week-end was elected Chairman of the United Spaniel Association.

Brenda Triffitt who is organizing the Grooming Clinic at Kitebrook on Sunday 19th July would like to thank the following companies for their support  in providing brochures and literature, Groomers, Croft, Dorwest, Mutneys and Blades and for providing brochures and samples of products, Dzynadog and Petcetera etc, the Association  are very grateful for their support and input..

The show entries for Kitebrook have now closed, I do not know how many have entered but I have had several e-mails from members saying they will be going, and I know that quite a few people are coming from abroad, including Finland, Sweden, U.S.A. France and Ireland, it will be nice seeing so many of our overseas members as well as meeting our old and new UK ones, so if you have nothing booked for that week-end come and join us.

I know I have said it many times before,  but thank you for all your news, this blog would not be possible without your imput so keep the news coming.
