Bog Dog Blog 27th June 2009

I have had loads of news this week, so here goes.

First of all I am sure you would like to join me in wishing our Secretary Chris Attwood a Happy Birthday, on Wednesday 1st July she will be celebrating the big 60 one.

I have received an e-mail from Peter Rochford asking me to pass on his and Gary’s thanks to all of you who phoned and kindly sent cards while Gary was in hospital, it was touch and go for a few days and Gary’s  family was advised to come over from Dublin, While this was going on Peter had to put the dogs in kennels, as it was not fair on them Marion Kong kindly offered to  pick up Tessie & Biddy who took them to Chris Attwood in Lincolnshire , then Judith Carruthers came from Carlisle to Lincolnshire to  pick up Biddy in Peter’s words” it just shows that when you need help what a great group of people the Irish Water Spaniel guys are” Gary is hoping to be well enough to go with Peter to Kitebrook.

I have had an e-mail from Connie Philipsen, in Denmark regarding The World Dog Show which takes place on the 24-27th June 2010 in MCH Messecenter Herning and Specialty Spaniels Show 2010 on the 25 June in Stockholm

“I have toyed with the idea of, how exciting it would be that all IWS owners could get together and stay overnight somewhere not far away from Herning and Stoholm and we then would have the time and opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences and so on.
I have succeeded finding such a place where that it possible. It is a big house with room enough for 54 persons with dogs. It is situated 20Km from Herning and 30KM from Stoholm. It is arranged with eight persons bunks per room and it is in the country side with open fields and forest, enough space to let the dogs run freely in wonderful surroundings.

We must be 30 persons on average all days to keep the price cheap and anyway far lower that the hotel prices. More people-lower price.

If you travel with owners of other breeds, they are welcome as well as long there is enough room.
I have been in contact with people who can cook for us morning and night for a reasonable price.
On Saturday I thought we could have an unofficial IWS show, and now that we are people from around the world gathered in one place a Health Seminar to discuss the problems we find in our breed. If any of you are burning up with ideas then let me know, inspirations are always welcome.

I haven’t obtained assistance from outside, as all this is on private initiative and I will not earn anything from this I hope that many of you will find it a good idea that we can spend these days together in wonderful surroundings.

I have to collect a fee from you as soon as you have told if you are coming and for how many days you will want to stay because I am liable for half the rent as soon as I have confirmed that we are coming. I will have the house from Wednesday the 23rd of June and until Monday the 28th of June.

Please report back to my friend who is helping me with this via e-mail on calsa43@gmail.com asap

Best wishes  Connie Hurup Philipsen, Kennel Famous Crown Denmark.
