At the Bakewell show on Wednesday 5th August, IWS’s were judged by Colin Woodward Best of Breed  was Sh Ch Antdela Oleander (Ollie) owned by Ant Andrews, Reserve Best of Breed was Fynder Sea Biscuit of Glenderry owned by Vickie Norman-Massa and Best Puppy was Nairne Ailsa at Stoneview owned by, Mr, Mrs & Miss Nicholls. Ollie went on to win the Gundog Group under Eileen Gates, Ollie’s and Ant’s prize for winning the gundog group was a crystal vase and three months free subscription to Our Dogs paper.

The weekend of 8th & 9th Augus was Bournemonth Championship Dog Show. IWS’s did not have classes but two were entered in AVNSC Utility & Gundog, Best Bitch ad Best Puppy was won by Stanegate Spare A Thought owned by Peter & Gary Rochford-Somers.

News from Ireland that Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch/Su Ch Gatewood Invitation From Coleenville (Remix )owned by Heather, Norman & Coleen Large  has won three groups in three weeks. The first was at Dundalk All Breeds Ch Show, unfortunately I do not know the names of the judges at this show, the second was at Monkstown International Ch Show, the breed judge was  Patsy Hollings and she finished Best In Show 3 under Jean Lanning, the third was Bangor and North Down Ch Show where she was also Best In Show 4, again I do not know who the judges were.

News from Vicki Norman-Massa  that on Sunday 9th August at Yorkshire Gundog Open Show  IWS’s were judged by Mike Blay and Fynder Sea  Biscuit Of Glenderry owned by Vickie  won Best of Breed , he then went on to win Best in Show under Pam Blay.

News from Diane Wheeler that KerryKen Orpelina (Lexie) came 4th out of a entry of 39 in an agility competition held at St Asaph North Wales last Saturday, well done, it is nice to hear of IWS’s doing well in agility competitions.

I had the following e-mail from Fraser McCallum today “I wonder if you could ask your readers if any other IWS are committed mousers. I live in the country and walk in harvested stubble fields between August and ploughing time in February, I have 3 IWS and they all cant wait to get into the fields now just after harvest, to dig up mouse nets and eat the inhabitants. Prior to the IWS I had Golden Retrievers and they certainly didn’t bother. Any information would be appreciated.”  If you have any information for Fraser, let me know and I will pass it on.

I am sorry but I cannot give you the details of the winner of the Good Citizens at Kitebrook, as promised yet as  I am still awaiting the results from Debbie Robinson, as soon as I receive them I will post them on the blog.

Keep the news coming.
