Bog Dog Blog 23rd August, 2009

Vickie Norman Massa and Sea Biscuit of Glenderry had a a very  successful weekend last week, at Ashbourne Open Show Sea Biscuit was Best of Breed under Sheila Appleby, Gundog Group 1 under Lyn Hunter and Reserve Best in Show under Sue Rose. The following day at Alfreton & District Canine Society he was again Best of Breed under Judith Carruthers (Stanegate) and Gundog Group 4 under Josie Pretty,  Congratulatons.

I had the following e-mail from Eileen Hume this week: ” Jenroe Blarney (Hamish) d.o.b. 7th,  August 1997 Zanfi Unspoken Words X Towbray Levity bred by Eileen Leach ,Hamish was put to sleep just a week before his 12th birthday. Forget all about the rising sea level caused by global warming - it is tears shed for a lovely dog. Although never really shown Hamish was a fantastic dog to own, live with and love. He was an insulin dependant diabetic for the last few years but was so good at allowing us to take his blood glucose levels from blood taken from his tail, it was not difficult to cope with this condition. Even when he developed stomach cancer in the last month of his life we managed to keep his diabetes well under control. He is sadly missed by all the family including the 3 cocker spaniels and 2 cats. We have been lucky to own both Hamish and his “aunt” Towbray Lollipop” (Laura). It is sad also for Hilary Ladanowski as Hamish is the last of her line of water spaniels.”  I am sure you will join me in thinking of Eileen and Neil at this sad time.

This week-end is the Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show, the IWS judge was Mrs F Marshall, unfortunately there were only 20 entries and and three of them were absent on the day. Dog CC and Best of Breed was Foulby Fireworks owed by Angela Williams, David Craig and Penny Willoughby. Reserve Dog CC was Foulby Firelight at Rossut owned by Pat Sutton, the Bitch CC was won by Antdela Arabella, owned by Ant Andrews, and the Reserve Bitch CC  was Holbain Capercaillie owned by Pauline and Stuart Furber, Best Puppy was Stanegate Step to Freedom owned by Judith Carruthers.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the date of the working event at Clumber Park has had to be changed, it is now Sunday 4th October, and I will be sending a flyer with more information to all members at the end of next week, when I came back from a few days holiday with my youngest Grandaughter

Still no news from Debbie Robinson with the names of the dogs and owners who passed the KC Good Citizens awards at Kitebrook, as soon as I receive them I will print them .

Keep the news coming.
