Bog Dog Blog 8th September 2009
Firstly I must apologise for the delay in this week’s blog, Don and I have been away to Glorious Sunny Sussex for a long week-end, just arrived home about thirty minutes ago.

The working event on Sunday 4th October has had to be cancelled, when this date was offered to the Association and accepted the committee, did not realize that the Sporting Irish Water Spaniel Club were holding an event on the same day and as the Kennel Club does not allow the clubs to hold events on the same day, we had no alternative but to cancel. We will try to arrange another date as soon as possible.

Another IWS has appeared in print this time it was Jack owned by Caroline & Stuart Davies who was on the front of a monthly magazine.

Last weekend was the City of Birmingham Championship Show  IWS’s were judged by Joyce Webb who has owned , bred  and been involved with the breed for over 30 years, she had an entry of 31 with 7 being absent on the day. The Dog CC was won by Sh Ch Antdela Oleander owned by Ant Andrews, the Reserve Dog CC was Holbain Muddy Duck owned by Pauline & Stuart Furber and Angie & Ian Biggs, the Bitch CC and Best of Breed was Foulby Fire Opel owned by Angela Williams, David Craig and Penny Willoughby Reserve Bitch CC was Sh Ch & Ir Sh Ch Fynder Blue Velvet at Leonardston owned by Christine & David Smith and Best Puppy was Stanegate Step to Freedom owned by Judith Carruthers.

As well as winning the Dog CC at Birmingham, Sh Ch Antdela Oleander (Ollie) went into the Champion Stakes were there was an entry of 52 and 30 in the class under Hans Lehtinen and won the Gundog Stakes, he then returned to compete in the final for the overall winner over the 3 days and took top spot thus qualifying for the Grand Final in October, we think it is the first time that an IWS has won this award. Congratulations to you both and good luck in the final next month. It is nice to see the Irish Water Spaniel winning top awards.

Keep the news coming.
