Bog Dog Blog 22nd May 2010

Firstly sorry the blog has not been available for a couple of weeks but Jaki has been rebuilding the website before handing it over to a new webmaster, so the blog should now be back on a regular basis. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jaki for all the hard work she has done over the past few years

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TIME OF THE START OF THE IWSA WALK AROUND THE LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE COUNTRY HAS BEEN ALTERED TO 10.AM, DAVID RAWLINSON HAS TRIED OUT THE WALK FOR US AND IT TOOK SLIGHTLY LONGER THAN WE EXPECTED IT TO TAKE. THE CORRECT TIME IS ON THE FLYER WHICH I POSTED TOGETHER WITH THE LATEST TOPKNOT TO ALL MEMBERS EARLIER IN THE WEEK

Last weekend was Mid Herts Gundog Open Show, Irish Water Spaniels were judged by somebody I had not heard of and indeed is not on any of the Association’s Judging Lists which was unfortunate as they missed out on the sponsership that is offered by the IWSA. Best of Breed was Foulby Pheonix via Sandvika owned by Mrs Hales and Reserve Best of Breed was Holbain Slice N’Ice owned by Liz Brown Liz also won any variety junior under Valerie Foss, I understand that Georgia Brown handled her Cocker Spaniel   to first place in the Post Graduate Class under Jeff Horserll and she was also pulled out in the Special Beginners Stakes from an entry of 22 dogs present.

This weekend is the Scottish Kennel Clubs Championship Dog Show IWS were judged by Mrs Angela Williams,(Foulby) there was an entry of 21 with 2 being absent on the day Dog CC (his first) and Best Puppy was Malanis Sandor by Glenderry owned by Vickie Norman-Massa Reserve Dog CC was Sh Ch Antdela Oleander ShCm owned by Ant Andrews, Bitch CC  and Best of Breed was Sh Ch Stanegate Sparks Will Fly (AI) owned by Judith Carruthers and Reserve Bitch CC was Malanis Cara owned by Mrs Christine Bannister.

Bog Dog Blog 9th May 2010

The Irish Water Spaniel has organized a walk around the “last of the summer wine country” on Sunday June 6th, details will be appearing on the IWSA website very soon, the venue is set in the Pennine Hills above Holmfirth, and dinner has been arranged at the Hutsman Inn Holmfirth. The inn has 15 rooms if anyone wishes to stay and there is also a Premier Lodge nearby and many houses in the vicinity that offer bed and breakfast. We hope that as many members as possible will take this opportunity to walk, let their dogs have a swim, meet other IWS  owners and have dinner together. I will be sending more details out in a mailing this week, in the meantime if you need further details please contact Sandra and David Rawlinson on 01484 684577.

Unfortunately we have lost some more dogs through ill health in the past few  weeks, one of them had been a re-home many years ago and was owned by Joan Wilcox, the others were owned by Joan Fogel and and Michael McDonagh, I am sure they will all be greatly missed by their owners.

One of our members Alan Porter is at the moment in hospital after just having  had a new hip replacement, I am sure you will all join me In wishing him a speedy recovery.

This weekend is the Birmingham National Dog Show, IWS’S  were  judged by Roger Taylor (Maundale) there was an entry of 25 with a few absent on the day Dog CC and Best of Breed was Sh ChAntdela Oleander  ShCM owned by Ant Andrews, Reserve Dog CC was Fynder Sea Biscuit of Glenderry owned by Vickie Norman-Massa, Bitch CC was Sh Ch Stanegate Sparks Will Fly (AI) owned by Judith Carruthers and Reserve Bitch CC was Malanais Cara owned by Christine Bannister, Best Puppy was Antdela Lucannia  also owned by Ant Andrews. Unfortunately we did not have a representative in the Gundog Group or Gundog Puppy Group as Ant had been beaten in the Championship and Puppy Stakes earlier in the day.

On a personal note I took my puppy Doonbeg  Mahonia at Chessrose (Crazy Daisy ) to the show, as I or Chris could not show her she was handled in the ring by young Georgia Brown who at only nine years of age did a very professional job handling her to 2nd place in Puppy Bitch this at just seven months old and at only her 2nd show  so I was obviously delighted.

Keep the news coming
