News from Zoe Stirk,”At the Kingston Canine Society Show on Saturday 24th July, IWS were judged by Mr D A Bennett. Best of Breed was Malanis Tia at Grakar owned by Graham, Karen and Zoe. Tia went on to win the Gundog Group under Becky Johnson beating over 209 Gundogs. Also our English Setter Florence (Ravensett Diamond Romance with Grakar won Best of Breed.” Well done

I had a phone call from Chris Attwood absolutely thrilled with the news that at Bournemouth Championship Show one of the Chinese Crested Puppies bred by them called Doonbeg J’Adore at Candycrest won Best Puppy then went on to win Toy Puppy Group 3, the Judge for the breed classes was Margaret Kempster and the Group Judge was Gordon Rual and she is owned by Rachael Millward, it’s nice to hear of members successes with other breeds.

Irish Water Spaniels did not have classes at Bournemouth but 8 were entered in AVNSC Utility & Gundog and Sh ChAntdela OleanderSh.Cm owned by Ant Andrews won Reserve Best Dog, Stanegate Spare A Thought owned By Peter & Gary Somers Rochford was Best Bitch, Reserve Best Bitch was Antdela Lucianna (AI) also owned by Ant and Antdela Toffee Crisp owned by Lin and Paul Bradley was Best Puppy the judge was Zena Thorn Andrews. Ollie went on to gain 4th place in the Championship Stakes which was judged by Valerie Foss, Luci won the Junior Stakes which was judged by Mr R Gregory and Toffee Crisp went on to gain 5th in the Puppy Stakes which was judged by Zena Thorn Andrews I understand from Ant that Toffee Crisp was the only gundog to gain a prize in the puppy stakes, all the others were Utility Breeds, Congratulations to all of you.

Bog Dog Blog 8th August 2010

Firstly I must apologize to Pauline and Stuart Furber and Ant Andrews for missing out the following in the blog dated 18th July 2010. Also in my haste to get the news to you I  inadvertenly touched some wrong keys on the keyboard therefore there are a few spelling mistakes. I thought I had put it through spellcheck but obviously not

The Reserve Btch CC winner was Holbain Mustang Sally (Kerryken Hershey at Holbain & Gatewood  Portia at Holbain owned by Pauline and Stuart Furber and Best Veteran in Show was Poetscorner Ackerley owned by Ant Andrews.

I have had an e-mail from Lyn Bradley, her puppy Antdela Toffee Crisp has been doing well in the ring, at the recent Dorset County Show he won AVNSC Gundog Puppy and then went on to win Gundog Puppy group 2, and then at Minehead and District Show, he again won AVNSC Gundog Puppy and this time went on to gain Gundog Puppy Group 3 so congratulations are in order, well done

Vickie Norman –Massa has asked me to pass on her thanks to all of you  who phoned andt sent cards congratulating her and the Pie (Malanis Sandor by Glenderry) on winning his 3rd CC and becoming a Show Champion and also winning Best in Show at the IWSA Championship Show, they were all grately appreciated.

Last weekend at Leicester Gundog Society Antdela Lucianne owned by Ant Andrews won Best of Breed and then went on to win 4th Best in Show, the judge for the breed classes and Best in Show was Ann Corbett

At the recent  Bakewell Show  there was an entry of only two dogs for the judge Ernie Lockett, Best of Breed was Beaufield Errigal At Axlehurn (IMP USA) owned by Denise and Alan Costley, Reserve BOB was Doonbeg Heart & Soul for Pharises owned by David and Sandra Rawlinson, I was sorry to hear about the poor entry, having previously judged and entered this show in the past, I think it is one of the best at Open Show level .The dog show is only part of the Bakewell Show there is plenty to see and do, so hopefully some of you who live a reasonable distance will enter in the future, I am sure you will have a lovely day out.

This weekend was National Gundog Association Championship Show Karen Stirk who was judging IWS at CC level for the first time had an entry of 27, unfortunately 7 were absent on the day, following their success at our championship show the Dog CC and Best of Breed was “The Pie”, Sh Ch (subject to CC approval)Malanis Sandor By Glenderry  owned by Vickie Norman-Massa, Reserve Dog CC was Sh Ch Antdela Oleander SH CM owned by Ant Andrews , the Bitch CC winner was Sh Ch Stanegate Sparks Will Fly (AI) owned by Judith Carruthers and the Reserve Bitch CC winner and also Best Puppy was Fynder Purple Sage At Leonardston owned by Christine and David Smith.

Young Georgia Brown had a lovely day she was showing her Cocker Spaniel Fendrove Roulette from an entry of 10 in the Yearling Bitch Class she came 2nd then went on to win the Under Graduate class                   and then finished the day by gaining 2nd place in the YKC Handling Class 6-11 years well done Georgia.

I will be sending out the shedules for the IWSA Open show towards the end of this month, the show takes place at the Canine Academy on October 10th and the judge is Mrs Pat Wake (Gatewood).

The IWSA will be holding a Gundog Training day on 4th September at Clumber Park, more details to follow.
