properly, it should have been up and running on the 17th September but two days later I am still without a phone,
not a very good start on the part of my new phone provider!!.
More
news about Darlington Championship Show, it is one of the shows that have a lot of Stake Classes with money
on offer and I am pleased to say that the breed did very well in them. The Junior Stakes Class
was won by Malanis Sandor by Glenderry(The Pie) owned by Vickie Norman Massa, Antdela Lucianna owned by
Ant Andrews came second in the Yearling Stakes, then Ant took Lucy and Sh Ch Antdela Oleander (Ollie) into the Brace Stakes
and won that, then Ollie went into the Best of Sex Winner Class and came second and Lucy went into the
Non CC Reserve Best of Sex Winners and won that then Ant took Antdela
Coconut Quin into the Gundog Puppy Group under Judge Mrs Marianne Nixon and won that, Coconut Quin is owned
by Miss S Symonds. The Judge for the Junior Stakes was Peggy E M Bailey, the yearling and reserve winners judge was Bob Gregory,
and the brace class was judged by Patsy Hollings, it is lovely to hear that so many different judges appreciated the qualities
of the Irish Water Spaniel. A big congratulation to all the winners.
Antdela
Toffee Crisp owned by Lyn and Paul Bradley continued with his winning ways by being Best AVNSC Gundog Puppy, Best AVNSC Gundog
Group 2, Group 1 Gundog Puppy and then Reserve Best Puppy in Show at the recent Westbury and District Open Show. The Gundog
Judge was Mr R Strudwick and the Best in Show Judge was Mrs Jan Pain.
I
received a telephone call from Sonia Symonds asking me to let you know how kind and helpful the breeder of her new pupppy
Antdela Coconut Quin (Ant Andrew and Adele Blades) have been, always on the end of the phone when she needed them, trimming
the dog and taking it into the ring for her as in her words she had no idea what to do in the show ring.
I am pleased to say that Roger has had his operation and is recovering well at home, he will not be
able to be the Open Show Manager but Chris & Keith Attwood have visited him and have taken all the entries for the show
to sort for the printers and Neil Hume will be taking over as the Show Manager, so everything is in hand.
If you have been trying to contact me on my new phone number I apologise if you have not been able
to get through I am pleased to say that after five days it is now working okay.

I am sorry that there wasn’t any
news last week, Don and I have had a few days holiday in Somerset.
News from Lin and Paul Bradbury that their puppy Antdela Toffee Crisp (Ghengis) on the 29th
August went through from AVNSC classes judged by Joyce Whiting, she gave him Group 1 Gundog Puppy, he then went on to win
Reserve Best Puppy in Show under Nigel Marsh, then at Paignton Championship Show hewent Best Puppy and Reserve Best Dog under
Brenda Banbury.
Last weekend was Birmingham Championship Dog
Show, IWS’s were judged by Mr Nigel Worth , he had an entry of 26 with only 1 absent on the day Dog CC was won by Antdela
Oleander Sh CM owned by Ant Andrews, Reserve Dog CC was Fynder Sea Biscuit of Glenderry Sh Cm owned by
Vickie Norman Massa, Bitch CC and Best of Breed was Sh Ch Stanegate Sparks Will Fly (AI) owned by Judith Carruthers, Reserve
Bitch CC was won by Holbain Goosander owned by Pauline & Stuart Furber, Best Puppy was Fynder Purple Sage at Leonardston
owned by Christine & David Smith.
While sitting
at the ringside I was concerned to hear some spectators, when the Judge pulled the first dog out in two of the classes, cheering
loudly, not waiting for the judge to award the other places in the class. In the 29 years that I have been involved in dog
showing I have not seen this happen before. As the judge can decide to change the line up of the winners it is therefore customary
to wait for the judge to inform the steward of his placings before spectators start clapping, I hope this was a one off as
it can be very discerning to the judge and all exibitors and spectators alike.
The
IWSA held a Gundog Training Day last Saturday at Clumber Park, I undertand it was well attended and a good time was had by
all who took part.
Unfortunately after he returned
home from the Gundog Trainng Day Roger Taylor our Chairman suffered two heart attacks, I am pleased to say that he is recovering
in hospital and is waiting to be transferred to another hospital for surgery. I am sure you will all wish to join me in wishing
him a speedy recovery.
.
I will be changing my e-mail address and telephone
number next week so I will let you know my new e-mail address in due course. My new telephone number from the 17th
September will be 01494 260458.
Keep the news coming

I had an E-mail from Vickie Norman-Massa with an interesting comment that the movie Seabiscuit was
on the television on Saturday 21st August and her Seabiscuit must have been watching as the next day he won the
Dog CC ( the important 3rd one) at the Welsh Kennel Club Show with his son The Pie taking the Reserve CC This is
the 3rd time this year that the father/ son, son/father have taken the CC and RCC . Vickie was wondering if this is a breed
record, if anyone knows differently perhaps they can let either Vickie or myself know.
News from Australia that Antdela Tramp Like Us owned by John & Sharon Gahan gained his Show Champion
Title at the recent New South Wales Championship Show, he was bred in the UK by Ant Andrews.
I am sorry to hear the sad news from America that Greg Siner has lost, at a young age, his lovely
bitch Ch Poole’s Ide Then There’s Maude, she did a lot of winning in the show ring and also produced
some lovely puppies, the most well known being Ch Poole’s Ide Got Water (Keegan) but most of all she was a wonderful
and faithful companion to Greg, I am sure that our thoughts are with Greg at this sad time.
The schedules for the IWSA Open Show were posted out a few days ago so they should be with you shortly.
You will see that a change has been made this year and the show will take place in the afternoon only.
