More news from the Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show, IWS’s were successful in the Stake Classes, in the Young Kennel Club Stakes Nairna Ailas At Stoneview owned By Mr, Mrs  & Miss Jennifer Nicholls won a VHC from an entry of 10 in the class, she was shown by Jennifer and the judge was Mr Peter Jolly. In the Junior Stakes Antdela Lucianna came 2nd, she is owned by Ant Andrews, the judge was also Mr Peter Jolly and in the Pro Plan/Dog World Pup of the Year Stakes, Antdela Toffee Crisp owned by Lin and Paul Bradley was awarded a Reserve, the judge was Mr M Deals. Congratulations to you all.

I had an E-mail from Vickie Norman-Massa with an interesting comment that the movie Seabiscuit was on the television on Saturday 21st August and her Seabiscuit must have been watching as the next day he won the Dog CC ( the important 3rd one) at the Welsh Kennel Club Show with his son The Pie taking the Reserve CC This is the 3rd time this year that the father/ son, son/father have taken the CC and RCC . Vickie was wondering if this is a breed record, if anyone knows differently perhaps they can let either Vickie or myself know.

News from Australia that Antdela Tramp Like Us owned by John & Sharon Gahan gained his Show Champion Title at the recent New South Wales Championship Show, he was bred in the UK by Ant Andrews.

I am sorry to hear the sad news from America that Greg Siner has lost, at a young age, his lovely bitch Ch Poole’s Ide Then There’s Maude, she did a lot of winning in the show ring and also produced  some lovely puppies, the most well known being Ch Poole’s Ide Got Water (Keegan) but most of all she was a wonderful and faithful companion to Greg, I am sure that our thoughts are with Greg at this sad time.

The schedules for the IWSA Open Show were posted out a few days ago so they should be with you shortly. You will see that a change has been made this year and the show will take place in the afternoon only.

I have received a press release from the City of Birmingham Canine Association giving details of Canine Health Talks for Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th September 2010. They would like to invite all exhibitors, the talks are taking place in the Kennel Club Building during the duration of the show. Two sessions daily, 10.30am and 2.00pm. Admission is free to all exhibitors on a first come basis, with capacity for 60 attendees per session. You may also attend on a different day from your exhibiting day as car park and entrance to the show is free. There is a question and answer session at the end of each talk, or you may pose a written question to the speaker to answer on the day or later on, questions will also be accepted at the door.

Don’t forget the Gundog Training Day, next Saturday, Sandra Rawlinson is organizing a raffle with profits going to the Welfare Fund, so any donations woul d be grately appreciated.

Bog Dog Blog 8th August 2010

Firstly I must apologize to Pauline and Stuart Furber and Ant Andrews for missing out the following in the blog dated 18th July 2010. Also in my haste to get the news to you I  inadvertenly touched some wrong keys on the keyboard therefore there are a few spelling mistakes. I thought I had put it through spellcheck but obviously not

The Reserve Btch CC winner was Holbain Mustang Sally (Kerryken Hershey at Holbain & Gatewood  Portia at Holbain owned by Pauline and Stuart Furber and Best Veteran in Show was Poetscorner Ackerley owned by Ant Andrews.

I have had an e-mail from Lyn Bradley, her puppy Antdela Toffee Crisp has been doing well in the ring, at the recent Dorset County Show he won AVNSC Gundog Puppy and then went on to win Gundog Puppy group 2, and then at Minehead and District Show, he again won AVNSC Gundog Puppy and this time went on to gain Gundog Puppy Group 3 so congratulations are in order, well done

Vickie Norman –Massa has asked me to pass on her thanks to all of you  who phoned andt sent cards congratulating her and the Pie (Malanis Sandor by Glenderry) on winning his 3rd CC and becoming a Show Champion and also winning Best in Show at the IWSA Championship Show, they were all grately appreciated.

Last weekend at Leicester Gundog Society Antdela Lucianne owned by Ant Andrews won Best of Breed and then went on to win 4th Best in Show, the judge for the breed classes and Best in Show was Ann Corbett

At the recent  Bakewell Show  there was an entry of only two dogs for the judge Ernie Lockett, Best of Breed was Beaufield Errigal At Axlehurn (IMP USA) owned by Denise and Alan Costley, Reserve BOB was Doonbeg Heart & Soul for Pharises owned by David and Sandra Rawlinson, I was sorry to hear about the poor entry, having previously judged and entered this show in the past, I think it is one of the best at Open Show level .The dog show is only part of the Bakewell Show there is plenty to see and do, so hopefully some of you who live a reasonable distance will enter in the future, I am sure you will have a lovely day out.

This weekend was National Gundog Association Championship Show Karen Stirk who was judging IWS at CC level for the first time had an entry of 27, unfortunately 7 were absent on the day, following their success at our championship show the Dog CC and Best of Breed was “The Pie”, Sh Ch (subject to CC approval)Malanis Sandor By Glenderry  owned by Vickie Norman-Massa, Reserve Dog CC was Sh Ch Antdela Oleander SH CM owned by Ant Andrews , the Bitch CC winner was Sh Ch Stanegate Sparks Will Fly (AI) owned by Judith Carruthers and the Reserve Bitch CC winner and also Best Puppy was Fynder Purple Sage At Leonardston owned by Christine and David Smith.

Bog Dog Blog 25th July 2010

I received a telephone call earlier in the week from Ant Andrews asking me to thank everyone who had sent cards and congratulations to him and Adele after Bella won her third CC and Reserve Best in Show at the IWSA Champiionship show last weekend, in Ant’s words it was very kind and thoughtfull of everyone.

This weekend is Leeds Championship Dog Show we did not have CC’s on offer but Vickie Norman Massa who was the judge had an entry of 14 with 3 being absent on the day.Best Dog was Sh Ch Antdela Olleander Sh.CM, Reserve Best Dog was Hokbain Muddy Duck (Sh Ch Zanfi Ego & Fynder Frieze at Holbain) bred by Pauline and Stuart Furber and owned in partnership with Angie and Ian Biggs. Best Bitch and Best of Breed was Sh Ch Stanehate Sparks WILL Fly (AI) owned and bred by Judith Carruthers Reserve Best Bitch was Holban Goosander owned and bred by Pauline and Stuart, Best Puppy was Antdela Coconut Quin (Fynder Only Joking & Antdela Alantra Sh CM )owned by Miss S Symonds and bred by Ant Andrews. I see from the results that Vickie withheld the 1st prize in the Junior Bitch class.

Chris & Keith Attwood also had success at this show when the Chinese Crested Puppy Dog Doonbeg Bete Noir via Tteswood bred by them won Best Puppy Dog, it is owned by Ms D Dowsett.

I have just looked on the Higham Press website and I was delighted to see that Judith and Dora gained Group  4 in the Gundog Group under Chris Bexon this follows on from her winning the Gundog Group at the East of England Show two weeks ago Congratulations Judith and Dora.

Bog Dog Blog 18th July 2010

Yesterday was the IWSA Championship Dog Show at Tollerton, the weather was mainly fine but quite windy, we aso had a couple of short showers. This year the judge was Marie Engstrom, (Coffees) she had an entry of 51 dogs with few absentees, a list of all the winners will be on the website. In the dog classes, the Dog CC his important 3rd was Malanis  Sandor By Glenderry  (Fynder Seabiscuit of Glenderry & Malanis Sapphire) owned by Vickie Norman-Massa and bred by Hannah Cooper, he went on to win Best in Show, the Reserve Dog CC was his father Fynder Seabiscuit of Glenderry( AmCh /Sh Ch CastlehillsQuantrum Leap For Fynder & Fynder Water Sprite) also owned by Vickie  and bred by Pepi Barrington Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy in Show was Antdela Toffee Crisp (Fynder Only Joking & Andela Alantra owned by Lin & Paul Bradley and bred by Ant Andrews. The Bitch CC and Reserve Best in Show also winning her important 3rd CC was Antdela Arabella (Sh Ch Zanfi Ego & Foulby Lincoln Lass) owned and bred by Ant Andrews Best Bitch Puppy and Reserve Puppy in Show was Doonbeg Mahonia at Chessrose (Antdela Larix & Doonbeg Smitten) owned by myself and bred by Chris & Keith Attwood.

As is the tradition at all dog shows the club running the show provides the judge, stewards and Show Manager with a lunch, this year the judge decided she did not want to participate in the lunch provided but as the Show Manager and Stewards had been working without a break since 8 am in the morning and the lunches had been paid for it was decided to go ahead with the lunch and make it as short as possible, which we managed to do in 30 minutes. Unfotunately this meant we missed the beginning of the talk that Marie gave on the breed.

As usual we had many visitors from abroad, I was delighted to meet Kathy Sproat from Australia for the first time, also Jeremy Kezer and his wife, Jeremy took loads of photos which we hope to display on the website.

Thank you for putting your hands in your pockets and buying raffle tickets it is much appreciated.

I had an e-mail from Ant Andrews, he went to thr Alfreton Show today and kept the flag flying, Antdela Lucianna won theJunior Class and Best of Breed under Susan Webster, then went on to win the Gundog Group under Eddie Webster then Reserve Best in Show following in her mother’s footsteps the day before, the judge for Best in Show was Gordon Haran, it surely must be a record mother and daughter winning Reserve Best in Shows on consecutive days. While I am on the subject of records I think it must also be a record this weekend for Vickie and the Pie as subject to KC confirmation, the Pie became a Show Champion at the tender age of 1 year and 17 days, I do not know of any other Irish Water spaniel gaining his title at this young age, if you know differently perhaps you can let me know.

I also had the following e-mail from Zoe Stirk” Morning Jean Hope you have recovered from Saturday’s Show. It sound like it was a very enjoyable day, I really wanted to go but I had to get the Englis Setters ready for a show the next day. I must admit I was pleased I was not showing with all the running round the ring you all did!! However I did regret  this as the next day at the Southern English Open show the judge (Mr Andrew Brace ) sent us round the large ring so many times I lost count , it was worth it as Florence (Ravensett Diamond Romance with Grakar) won Reserve Best In Show. She won several cups, money and even a posh coat for herself Florence is owned by Graham, Karen & Zoe Stirk”

On a personal note, thank you all for the cards and presents you gave me for my birthday, it was very kind of you.

 Keep the news coming.
