Hello fellow IWSA members. I will now be writing a weekly column giving you all the latest IWS news which I hope will be of
interest to all members. In this first edition I will try and bring you up to date with the year so far. Jean Gomm, Treasurer

Top Gundog Breeders
Pat Wake and Shirley Whitwell were Ireland's top gundog breeders for 2007, gaining 40 points, 8 points more than the second
place winner, this competition is worked out on Group placings instead of the usual Green Star CC's and it is all thanks to
Heather, Norman and Coleen Large's Kat and Remix, Kat (Ir Sh Ch Gatewood Katerina at Colleenville was also the IWS Annual
Champion for 2007 this is the IKC's award to the dog winning the most green stars in the breed
Crufts
Well Cruft's is over for another year and it was lovely seeing so many old friends and acquaintances; Colleen and Jack McDaniels
were over from America, Marie Engstrom from Sweden and it was nice to see many others who have had IWS over the years, round
the ringside.
Roger Taylor judged the breed and he gave the Dog CC to Pepi Barrington, Penny Smith & Sue Tapps' AMCh. Sh Ch Castlehill's
Quantrum Leap for Fynder. He was also Best of Breed. The bitch CC went to Judith Carruthers & Angela Williams Sh Ch Foulby
Fired Up. While on the subject of Cruft's I popped down to the Discover Dogs Booth, which was very busy. Marion Kong
& Penny Diamond decorated the booth and it was manned by volunteers every day. Thank you all for your hard work.
General News
Irene Thompson recently sent a picture of her IWS Sony to the Peoples Friend magazine, and kindly donated her fee to IWS rescue.
Angela Williams (Foulby) has recently had a car accident, she has cracked some ribs and is badly bruised but is recovering
at home, I am sure you will all join me in wishing her a speedy recovery.
The next event organized by the IWSA is a Breed Specific Judging Seminar to be held on 20th April, at Tollerton, Nottingham,
I hear from Chris Attwood that there are a few tickets left so if you are interested call her on 01526322081.
Anybody who likes to collect IWS paintings or drawings, there is a new picture available, it is by Alan Spinks, and further
details can be obtained from him.
I had a phone call from Pat Wake to let me know that on Sunday 16th March, Gatewood Gallimatias won the Gundog Group at the

New Committee Members
The AGM was held last Sunday and we have four new members on the committee, Sandra Rawlinson, Lisa Walker,,Brenda Triffitt
and Anthony Andrews, I am sure they will all bring new ideas to the meetings. Chris Attwood was re-elected as Hon Secretary.
I had an e-mail from Antony Andrews, they took their new boy Antdela Oleander to Eastwood Kennel Association for his first
show. He won best junior and best puppy in breed (avnsc) under judge Mr Lewis (Lewkins) who also judged the group where Oleander
came 2nd (puppy group 2) Ant and Andela also won the brace stakes under judge Mr A Tomlinson (Lyndham) - well done!
On Easter Saturday at the Irish Combined Canine Ch Show Heather, Norman and Colleen Large's Remix (Sh Ch Ir Sh Ch Swe Ch
Gatewood Invitation from Coleenville) was BOB and 3rd in the group
While at Retford Canine Society Dog Show last weekend Ant Andrews, Ollie (AntdelaOleander) won Pest Puppy and Best Junior
AVNSC then won Puppy Group 1 under Malcom Smith then went on to win 4th Puppy in Show under Jim Peach, Ollie certainly has
made a winning start to his show career.
A sad announcement.
I have just received an e-mail from Chris Attwood she has just had to have Balti put to sleep at the age of eleven and a half.
Those of you who had the privilege of knowing this wonderful lady will be very saddened by this news, I know how much this
lovely lady meant to Chris and Keith and Don and I feel privliged to be the proud owner of one of her sons Buddy (Doonbeg
Al Moughal at Chessrose) who has inherited all the lovely qualities of his mother.
Well that's the news for the year so far. From now on I will be doing this column weekly so please let me have your news so
we can share it with all the members.
