Animal Health Trust Swabs

The IWSA has swabs from the Animal Health Trust (AHT) which can be stored for future genetic research. Although the AHT does not have any breed specific genetic tests available at the moment, research is ongoing and new tests are being developed all the time. Hopefully storing the DNA information now will help the breed in the future.

Swabs are available from Alan Spinks. You can contact him at alan.spinks@btopenworld.com or 01205 290523.

Swabs need to be sent to the AHT with the dogs Kennel Club registered name and number and a copy of the dogs 5-generation pedigree and any relevant health information. It is important that this health information is updated with the AHT if a dog’s a condition. Instructions for taking the swabs are enclosed in the pack. We will send out annual update forms in the future as a reminder or you can download it here.
