IWS all at sea!
Although the sun didn’t come out for our water spaniel walk last weekend, the tide was up, yet the wind kindly wasn’t! And the group of 16 dogs and their owners gathered at West Wittering beach in West Sussex had the vast expanse of sandy beach almost to themselves. The IWS (plus a couple of honorary IWS) were very excited to be able to gallop in and out of the shallows, swim into the deeper water, retrieve, race each other along the beach or potter off to investigate the grassy sand dunes.
We walked all round East Head – a peninsula at the end of West Wittering beach. It’s a wonderfully safe environment for the dogs, which gave the owners time to relax and chat … and try to work out which wet dog was theirs!
Most of us had not only mingled at West Wittering before, but also been to our lunch venue before too: the Cider House Kitchen. They provided a big indoor table for those who wanted to lunch in the warm, and an outdoor table under the terrace heater for those who wanted their dogs with them. Filling up on tasty pizzas and puddings was a fine way to end our Autumn mingle.
The dogs’ coats may have decorated our car interiors with vast quantities of West Wittering sand on the way home, but hey-ho, it’s one souvenir of another great day out together. Thank you to all who came along.
We will be inviting all IWS to walk together again Spring 2025. To be included in invitations to these mingles, please email Debbie Robinson on debsrobuk@yahoo.com or phone 01243 389005 to be added to the mingle circulation list.
